ECB’s Asmussen attacks delays to Greek reforms
Jörg Asmussen, a member of the executive board of the European Central Bank, in a speech today (July 2) urged the Greek government to press ahead with its adjustment programme and avoid "illusory" alternatives.
Speaking at a roundtable with the Greek government in Athens, Asmussen made it clear that he did not agree with calls for an easing of reforms. The new Greek government has said it wishes to renegotiate a number of the programme's provisions.
