Indian government overhauls RBI central board of directors

The government of India has "reconstituted" the central board of directors of the Reserve Bank of India, according to a statement on the central bank's website.

In a brief notice, central bank revealed the government has appointed seven new directors to sit on the board for a period of four years from their start dates.

Dipankar Gupta, a sociologist and former professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, began on September 20; and Najeeb Jung, the vice-chancellor, Jamia Millia
