IMF sells ten tonnes of gold to Bangladesh Bank

The IMF sold ten tonnes of gold to the Bangladesh Bank, it emerged Thursday.
The gold was sold at market prices on 7 September 2010 for $403m. Gold traded between $1,248 and $1,258 per troy ounce on Tuesday. The gold was part of the 403.3 tonnes earmarked for sale by the Fund last autumn.
The Bangladesh Bank's purchase is the first off-market sale by the IMF since it announced it would start making on-market sales in February. Gold prices picked up on Friday morning on the back of the news
