Senators table Volcker rule legislation

Five US Senators on Wednesday unveiled a proposal which seeks to make the Volcker rule law.

The five - Jeff Merkley, Carl Levin, Ted Kaufman, Sherrod Brown and Jeanne Shaheen - said their Protect our Recovery through Oversight of Proprietary Trading Act (or Prop Trading Act) would restrict risky trades at banks and other large, important financial institutions. The senators said the bill would also address fundamental conflicts of interest associated with the sale of packages of securities made
