Canada names Longworth’s successor, deputy Duguay to retire

The Bank of Canada said on Wednesday that Jean Boivin, a special adviser to Mark Carney, the central bank's governor, had been made a deputy governor of the institution.

Boivin will fill the space created by the retirement of David Longworth, who is due to leave at the end of this month. As a member of the central bank's Governing Council, he will have a hand in rate-setting.

Carney said the appointment was in recognition of Boivin's contribution to the central bank, where he has focused on
