Mauritius’ deputy standing in as governor faces probe

The Bank of Mauritius' first deputy governor has taken over as acting governor after the government opted against renewing the appointment of Rundheersing Bheenick, the previous head who now must answer allegations of abuse of power.

A staffer in the governor's office confirmed to CentralBanking.com that Yandraduth Googoolye, the first deputy governor since July 2006, was now heading the organisation. Googoolye's appointment comes after it emerged Bheenick's contract would not be renewed on
