Israel’s Fischer asked to serve second term – reports

Stanley Fischer could remain at the helm of the central bank for a further five years if he chooses to accept President Benjamin Netanyahu's offer of a second term, reports suggested.

Leading news wires on Thursday cited government officials as saying that Netanyahu had offered Fischer a second term.

Fischer, one of the most prominent and highly regarded academics in the central banking community, is thought to have been offered positions elsewhere. However, he will be keen to push through
