Opposition leader slams RBNZ’s inflation-targeting focus

New Zealand's biggest opposition party on Thursday attacked the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's focus on inflation targeting and said it would withdraw its support for the policy.

Phil Goff, the head of the country's centre-left Labour party, said in a speech to a farmers' association that the focus on inflation targeting had compromised exchange-rate competitiveness and the ability to borrow cheaply.
