Ugandan auditor made acting deputy
Patrick Byabakama Kaberenge, previously the Bank of Uganda's chief internal auditor, is the new acting deputy governor.
Byabakama Kaberenge had headed the central bank's internal audit department since 2006 and has also served at the helm of its currency arm.
Prior to joining the central bank, he worked with the Ugandan government and in the private sector as an accountant. He holds a masters degree in finance and financial information systems.
