Eurozone banks pay heed to ECB’s debit card calls
European lenders are likely to establish a group later this year to create a debit-card system to challenge the dominance of US-based schemes.
The plans would please the European Central Bank, which has been pushing for a eurozone debit-card system to rival those of Visa and Mastercard, both of which are based in the US.
