Slovak c bank's first quarter loss near prediction

The National Bank of Slovakia reported on Monday that it made a loss for the first quarter of 2003. The loss was mainly due to fluctuations in the koruna currency's rate.

Slovakia's central bank (NBS National Bank of Slovakia) on Monday reported a loss of 5.75bn korunas for the first quarter, including the loss of 2.32bn korunas for March.

The main influences on the result have been fluctuations in the koruna currency's rate towards the dollar and euro, and the level of interest rates
