IMF says Turkey's cb independence important

A report on Turkey's performance under the most recent International Monetary Fund-supported economic program praised Turkey and its central bank for reducing the inflation rate to single-digits.

The report said: "The Directors pointed to the importance of protecting the Central Bank's independence in making the inflation lower."

Though the report noted several successful financial reforms, it acknowledged that a new banking law must be included in later reforms.

The Fund said that the government
