New BoJ governor to be approved by Diet

Toshihiko Fukui's appointment as the new governor of the Bank of Japan will be approved by the Diet on 13-14 March.

Japan's tripartite ruling coalition decided on Monday 10 March that the houses of the Diet will approve on 13-14 March the appointment of former Bank of Japan (BOJ) Deputy Governor Toshihiko Fukui as the new chief of the central bank.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Diet affairs committee chairmen of the Liberal Democratic Party, the New Komeito
