UK regulator hires Credit Suisse top brass

The Financial Services Authority, the British regulator, has recruited Credit Suisse's chief operating officer for its UK private banking business.

Mark Norris, the chief operating officer, will work in the same role for the regulator, making him responsible for all aspects of finance, planning, human resources, project management, facilities and information systems.

Norris's hire typifies the swell in private-sector recruits for official roles. Earlier this week, the British Treasury said it
