Bank of Canada forecasts 3 percent growth

The Bank of Canada estimates the Canadian economy will expand by 3 percent in 2001 after growing at a rate of 5 percent in 2000, Deputy Governor Sheryl Kennedy said on Jan. 29, 2001. "The Canadian economy has been performing well in recent years and we at the bank expect it to continue to do so as we look ahead," she said in the text of a speech delivered to the Rotary Club of Windsor, Ontario.Kennedy said the 3 percent expected growth rate for 2001 was close to the growth of Canada's production
