Ghanaian deputy quits for political role

Mahamudu Bawumia, a deputy governor at the Bank of Ghana, will leave to pursue a political career.

Nana Addo-Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the presidential candidate for the country's ruling New Patriotic Party, named Bawumiah as his running mate Thursday. The deputy governor will become vice president if the New Patriotic Party wins the election, which will take place in December. The party is widely tipped to win the election.
