Five months to E-day and euro use still limited

EUROPE - Five months before the introduction of euro notes and coins, the use of the single currency remains limited in almost every country in the 12-nation eurozone, the European Commission warned yesterday, 27 July.

According to a Commission survey of 32 banks, four banking associations, national governments and other groups during the three months to June, less than 4 per cent of companies were doing their accounting in euros - except in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Only a third of companies'
