Edwards to replace Carson as IMF statistics head

Anne Krueger, Acting Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) since Horst Kohler resigned, is to appoint Rob Edwards, an Australian, to replace Carol Carson as the IMF's head of statistics.

News of the appointment was announced yesterday in an IMF press statement which said: "Mr. Edwards will join the Statistics Department as Associate Director on July 1, 2004 and later in the year succeed its current Director, Carol Carson, who will retire from the Fund...Mr. Edwards, 54, an
