Central banks more likely to use software-based cloud services

Cloud widely used for cyber security and other applications

Software-based cloud services are the most common among central banks responding to the Fintech Benchmarks 2025.

Half of 30 institutions say software (50%) is a form of cloud service used in their jurisdiction. Data storage (40%) and artificial intelligence tools (40%) are also common. The least popular application type is processing power (20%). However, 20% of institutions say they do not use cloud technology.

Utilisation varies widely, indeed three in four institutions indicated “other” (75%)
