Brief History

The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) was established in 1982 as the Central Bank of Bhutan. Prior to the establishment of the RMA, functions relating to central banking were conducted principally by three agencies: the Ministry of Finance, State Trading Corporation of Bhutan and Bank of Bhutan. The Royal Monetary Authority Act of Bhutan 2010 was passed by the Parliament in June 2010 replacing the RMA Act 1982 whereby the RMA has been conferred with the following core
