Research investigates factors behind region-wide banking stability

The European Central Bank's (ECB) Macro-prudential Research Network (MaRs) has put out a new research paper studying the role of regional banking system characteristics for regional banking system fragility in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the US, finding a number of common characteristics of stable regional banking systems.

The paper, Determinants of Banking System Fragility: A Regional Perspective, by Hans Degryse, Muhammad Ather Elahi and María Fabiana Penas, finds that regional banking
