Ukrainian deputy to serve as interim governor

Ukraine’s president has yet to nominate replacement for Gontareva

The first deputy governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) will take over as acting governor from May 11 while the country’s government appoints a replacement for outgoing governor Valeria Gontareva.

Yakiv Smolii will take over as interim governor in accordance with Ukrainian law governing the central bank, a statement from the NBU said. He will remain in the post until a new governor is confirmed.
