BCRA renews $5 billion currency swap with PBoC

Argentina gets reserves boost, with new IMF deal expected to be finalised over coming days

Argentina yesterday (April 11) renewed a currency swap with China worth almost $5 billion, thereby bolstering its reserves ahead of a new deal with the International Monetary Fund.

In a statement, the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) said it had agreed with the People’s Bank of China to renew the activated tranche of their bilateral swap agreement.
