Former Bank of Mauritius governor released on bail
Harvesh Seegolam had been arrested for alleged conspiracy to defraud
The former governor of the Bank of Mauritius was released on bail today (January 6) after being charged with alleged conspiracy to defraud.
News outlet Defimedia reported that Harvesh Seegolam had been arrested on January 3 upon his return to Mauritius from Dubai. The Mauritian authorities last month announced that they would be pursuing the former governor in relation to the disbursement of 45 million rupees ($95,573) by the central bank-controlled Mauritius Investment Corporation to an entity
