Fintechs’ share in Dutch NBFI lending doubled in two years – DNB study

However, €2.3 billion dispersed by firms still represents only 0.7% of all loans

Lending by financial technology firms doubled between 2021 and 2023, research from the Netherlands Bank shows.

In a blog post published today (December 18), the DNB says that 75% of these loans were granted through “marketplace platforms”, which “bring supply and demand together”. These platforms only provide intermediation between lender and borrower, whereas the remaining 25% of loans were granted by platforms lending from their own balance sheets.
