Bitcoin reaches new high after Trump’s pledge to create reserve

President-elect says he does not want “China or anybody else” to take leading role on digital asset

Bitcoin reached an all-time high price of $106,488 on December 16, after Donald Trump said a US strategic reserve could be in the works.

When asked on news network CNBC on December 12 whether his incoming administration would create something akin to a strategic petroleum reserve for the cryptocurrency, the president-elect replied: “I think so.”
