Armenia cuts interest rate to 7.25%

Economic activity softens in third quarter

The Central Bank of Armenia cut its policy rate by 25 basis points to 7.25% today (October 29), as it aims to bring inflation to 4% over the medium term.

This is the twelfth consecutive rate cut the central bank has administered since beginning its monetary loosening cycle in June last year.

Annual headline inflation in Armenia decreased to 0.6% in September from 1.3% in the previous month. The central bank said economic activity in the country also softened in the third quarter, with growth
