Armenia receives support from IMF as inflation turns positive

Central bank carries out ninth consecutive cut but says inflationary pressures remain low

Armenia received the latest tranche of its funding package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the institution said on June 17, as inflation remains below target.

The country got access to $24.5 million after the IMF completed its third review of a three-year standby arrangement worth $171 million that came to being in December 2022.

Armenia’s economy has been buoyed by an inflow of capital from immigration following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The IMF said growth momentum in the country
