Paul Tucker calls for collateral prepositioning
Central banks need to know what collateral banks have in advance, former BoE deputy says
Paul Tucker said central banks need to adopt a prepositioning policy to improve their ability to handle crises, in remarks at an international conference of banking supervisors today (April 24).
The former Bank of England deputy governor said he was shocked to hear that a central bank did not believe in resolving a commercial bank in 2023.
“This is something that should have been public, or should have required remedies years and years in advance,” Tucker said.
