Remittances to Mexico reach record high, says Dallas Fed
Researchers say strong US construction sector fuels funds transfers
Remittances to Mexico from the US hit a record $55.9 billion in 2022, according to figures from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The researchers say there is evidence remittances fund investments and productive activities which spur economic growth.
“Mexico is the second-highest receiver of remittances in the world, trailing only India. The payments, mostly from migrants in the US, provide a valuable lifeline for millions of Mexican households,” write the authors in a blogpost published
