PRA plans dynamic insurance stress test for 2025

UK regulator will consult industry and publish more details next year

The Bank of England’s regulatory arm announced plans to undertake a “dynamic general insurance stress test” in 2025.

The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) said it wants to “assess the industry’s solvency and liquidity resilience to a specific adverse scenario”. The PRA said it also wants to rate insurers’ capacity to manage risk and help develop its own supervisory practice.

It will consult with insurance companies and industry associations about the tests’ design, and plans to publish
