South Sudanese president fires sixth governor
IMF praised central bank policies in May as country’s economic crises grow
South Sudan’s president has dismissed the country’s central bank governor, for what is now the sixth time since January 2017.
President Salva Kiir fired Bank of South Sudan governor Johnny Ohisa Damian, on October 2, along with both deputy governors, Reuters reported. Kiir appointed James Alic Garang, a former International Monetary Fund official, as governor, naming Samuel Yanga Mikaya and Nyiel Gordon Kuol as his deputies.
