Riksbank and Norges Bank continue increasing rates
Swedish central bank hikes rates to 4%, Norwegian to 4.25%
Sveriges Riksbank and Norges Bank both increased interest rates by 25 basis points after their monetary policy meetings today (September 21).
Both decisions were widely anticipated. Sweden’s policy rate is now at 4% and Norway’s is 4.25%.
“The Riksbank’s rate increases, and the falling energy prices have contributed to inflation beginning to fall,” said the Swedish central bank in its policy statement.
In August, headline inflation decreased sharply. According to Statistics Sweden, last month
