Military sacks governor as fighting drives up prices amid existing food shortage
The rival camps in Sudan’s civil war have attacked various facilities of the central bank, according to media reports.
Sudan’s armed forces, which control the government, attacked the currency printworks, in a move meant to prevent the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from producing money. The Sudan Currency Printing Press has printed banknotes since 1994.
The RSF reported the attack on Twitter on May 31, denouncing the assault as a violation of a ceasefire agreement.
