Riksbank to start government bond sales in April
Swedish central bank aims to tighten monetary policy
Sveriges Riksbank will start Swedish government bonds on April 3, the central bank said in a statement on March 13.
The central bank’s executive board first decided bond sales were necessary to tighten monetary policy and safeguard the inflation target on February 8.
In January, the Riksbank’s preferred measure of inflation increased year on year by 9.3%. In order to bring inflation down, the central bank has increased interest rates from 0% in May 2022 to 3% now.
