Basel Committee proposes capital add-ons for crypto exposures
Committee tightens proposed rules in several areas following high-profile crypto failures
The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has published a second round of consultation on its proposals for regulating banks’ crypto asset exposures, with new “add-on” capital requirements for some types of asset.
A year on from its first round of consultation, the committee retained the broad structure of its proposed rules, while toughening the standards in a few areas.
