BIS paper finds flaws in green taxonomies

“Taxonomy of taxonomies” proposes tackling weaknesses in categorisation of green assets

Many green taxonomies suffer from weaknesses that undermine their usefulness in categorising sustainable assets, a paper published by the Bank for International Settlements finds.

A taxonomy of sustainable finance taxonomies sets out a framework to draw comparisons between different methods. It focuses on the taxonomies developed by the European Union, China and the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), an organisation devoted to developing the green bond market.
