Olsen to step down from Norges Bank
Norwegian governor will leave one year before end of second term
Øystein Olsen will step down as the governor of Norway’s central bank next February, a year before his second term is due to end.
Norway’s government appointed Olsen to two six-year terms as the governor of Norges Bank beginning in January 2011. “There is a time for everything,” Olsen said in a statement published by Norges Bank on August 26.
“In January next year I will turn 70 years of age,” Olsen said in his statement. “This is a natural time to round off a long professional career.”
