Nine in 10 central banks are working on CBDCs

Most central banks have started to engage with central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) – though at many their experimentation is at a very early stage.

According to Fintech & IT Benchmarks 2021, 90.3% of 31 central banks said they are either researching CBDCs or are in the process of developing or conducting a pilot project. However, just one said they had actually completed a CBDC pilot.
