Worsening economic outlook boosts borrowers’ credit risk, says the ECB

Credit standards in the eurozone tightened in the third quarter of the year due to borrowers’ higher credit risk, says the European Central Bank.

The ECB’s bank lending survey highlights how credit conditions became tougher for both households and firms, while companies’ demand for loans moderated as a result of lower emergency liquidity needs.

“Banks referred to the deterioration of the general economic outlook, increased credit risk of borrowers and a lower risk tolerance as relevant factors
