ECB warns Slovene government over draft law on loans

New measure could expose central bank to political risk and harm commercial lenders, ECB says

The European Central Bank has again warned that a law drafted by the Slovenian government risks undermining the independence of the country’s central bank.

The ECB has issued several highly critical official opinions over draft laws concerning the Bank of Slovenia’s resolution of failed commercial lenders. The latest draft law criticised by the ECB in an official opinion concerns another controversy.
