Fed chairman says US must maintain global leadership
Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell reasserted his independence from president Donald Trump on April 11, at a private retreat for lawmakers from the opposition Democratic Party.
“We’re strictly nonpartisan,” Powell said, according to a report of the meeting in the Washington Post. “We check our political identification at the door.” Powell declined to discuss the president himself or his recent nominations to the Fed of Stephen Moore and Herman Cain, according to reports in several US media
