Uganda’s Tumusiime-Mutebile raises concerns about growth
African country’s growth momentum looks set to stall as global uncertainty weighs on economy
The Bank of Uganda has signalled the country’s growth momentum may be beginning to stall after two years of economic uplift.
“Economic activity appears to be softening,” the governor of the bank, Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, said in a statement on April 1.
“The BoU’s composite index of economic activity and other high frequency indicators … point to a slight moderation in real economic activity in the first quarter of 2019,” he said.
