Riksbank open to reassessing normalisation if needed – af Jochnick
Sweden’s central bank increased rates in December 2018 for the first time since 2011
The executive board of Sveriges Riksbank is open to reassessing its policy normalisation plans if the economic environment requires it, said first deputy governor Kerstin af Jochnick on January 28.
In a speech to the Swedish Property Federation, the official explained Sweden’s rate-setters “have most certainly not switched on an ‘auto-pilot’ towards higher interest rates,” af Jochnick said. “As always, we are prepared to reassess monetary policy if developments were to justify it.”
