Slovenian lawmakers appoint new governor

New appointee inherits acrimonious dispute between central bank and government over bail-in

Boštjan Vasle will become the next governor of Slovenia’s central bank after a narrow majority of the country’s lawmakers voted to confirm him, local media reports.

He will find himself in the middle of a long-running and acrimonious dispute between the central bank and several of the political parties that form Slovenia’s current and previous coalition governments.
