Competition and profitability targets are pushing up eurozone banks’ lending, the European Central Bank has said.

Banks said these were the most important factors in the second quarter of 2018, says the ECB’s latest eurozone bank lending survey, published today (July 24). Overall, the supply of credit in the eurozone eased over the survey period, compared with the first quarter of 2018, the ECB found.
