Norges Bank says rate hike likely in September

Key policy rate remains at 0.5% as inflation rises below target since February 2017

The executive board of Norges Bank has indicated it is likely to increase the key interest rate in September after its monetary policy meeting today (June 21).

“The outlook for the Norwegian economy suggests it will soon be appropriate to raise the key policy rate,” Norges Bank says in a statement. “The executive board’s current assessment of the outlook and balance of risks suggests that the key policy rate will most likely be raised in September 2018,” said governor Øystein Olsen.
