Malaysian central bank to take part in 1MDB investigation

Lead roles in probe taken by former attorney general and anti-corruption officials

Staff from Malaysia’s central bank will serve on a multi-agency “task force”, set up to investigate allegations of massive financial malpractice at the state-owned 1MDB fund.

Newly elected prime minister Mahathir Mohamad announced the formation of the task force today (May 21). The move comes less than two weeks after the May 9 election, during which the 1MDB scandal was the major issue.
