Qatar Central Bank launches legal probe into manipulation
Governor accuses blockading countries of manipulating riyal and local markets
Qatar Central Bank has launched a legal investigation into what it calls “attempts to harm the Qatari economy” by manipulating the exchange rate and local markets.
The central bank has appointed law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison investigate the matter, according to a statement issued on December 19. Several financial institutions and individuals have been asked to preserve documents that may be needed in future legal action.
