BoE says ‘there will always be differences in levels of pay’

Pay gap revelation shows women at the UK central bank are paid over a fifth less than their male counterparts

The Bank of England has revealed it has a headline gender pay gap of 21%, as part of a report which claims there will “always be some differences in levels of pay”.

In its Gender Pay Gap Report, published today (November 23), the BoE breaks down how it pays its female staff in comparison to their male counterparts, with men coming out on top yet again. 

“We are working hard to address this imbalance through inclusive and diverse recruitment,” Mark Carney says in the introduction.
